How to wear a multiway bra
For many women, the thought of wearing a multi-way bra strikes fear into their hearts – after all, without those supportive straps in place, what’s going to be holding your bust in place? However, multiway bras are an essential part of any woman’s underwear wardrobe, so have no fear.
The support in a good bra should predominantly come from the underband, not from the straps. The straps are in place to balance your bust and help keep the bra as a whole in place; support for your breasts actually comes from a well-fitting underband. First of all, then, it’s important to make sure you’re wearing the correct size bra. Try out our Bra Fit Challenge to see whether your bra size is too small, too large or just perfect; often, many women wear a band size too big and a cup size too small, so it’s a good idea to check first before investing in a pretty new multi-way bra.
Most women will opt for a multiway bra in one of the basic colours – beige, white or black – and moulded cups are often the most popular. Going for a moulded cup bra means that there will be a little padding, but it also provides a supportive surface for your dress or top to sit over; anything lacy or non-moulded can sometimes not give you the overall support that you need.
Multiway bras, as the name suggests, allows you to change the position of the straps to suit different outfits, including strapless and halterneck. For women with larger busts, getting a suitably wide strap for these bras is important, as this will be much more comfortable than a thin, spaghetti strap! If you’re not sure about multiway bras, then try a strapless bra in a similar basic colour. Although you don’t have as many options with this, it is a great staple for any outfits with intricate detailing around the neckline, or this season’s sheer and lacy fabrics.
Have you tried multiway bras in larger bust sizes? What did you think?
