Summer Confidence – Tips on body confidence when wearing fewer clothes
It’s a season many of us mere mortal females dread – summer. Sure there are holidays and lazy days in the sun, but with it comes heat, heat which as tantalising as it feels on our skin, forces us from the safety our layers to reveal somewhat neglected manicures.
Get it sorted! Make sure you’re ready to make the most of it by planning a military approach to your summer-ready grooming.
It’s all about laying the right foundations, and then it’s just maintenance from then on. Begin the following beauty regime now to boost your summer body confidence keep you from hiding under that sun hat!
Exfoliate the skin
This removes dead skin cells and encourages your new skin to glow. Pop on a pair of exfoliating gloves, load with a sweet scented summer body wash, and begin. Circular motions working towards the heart are best, taking care over more sensitive skin areas. Moisturise straight after showering to sooth the exfoliated areas. Repeat each time you shower, and in just one week you’ll notice your skin has become smoother and silkier.
Not for the faint hearted, but if you can stand the sting, waxing can be a great investment in body confidence and is particularly useful for those planning an activity holiday where full beauty regimes just aren’t possible. A full body wax – legs, underarm and bikini will mean you don’t have to suffer long sleeves and trousers whilst friends bask in the sun. If that sounds a bit drastic, just go for a half-leg wax, so at least you can be seen in a skirt without worry.
A soft glow can really enhance your natural colouring; your hair and eyes are instantly sharpened. There are lots of false tans available, so you’re bound to find a blend and application type to suit you. Just remember less is more, you can always apply another layer, and with your newly buffed skin it should go on like a dream.
Cuticles are key
Statement jewellery is great, but in the heat you want to let your skin breath. Instead, make your nails your summer accessory by switching colours to suit your look. Time’s limited – you just want to get out there, so make the transition in colour easy. Use an orange stick to gently push your cuticles back. It will reveal more of the nail (making them look longer), and make for a smooth application of polish from base to tip. The best time to do this is after showering, when the cuticle has softened up.
